Social Media Time Management Tips You Need

These 6 time-saving social media management tips my secret weapon to staying productive and organized when working on social media. It’s far too easy to let social media drive my screen time up to 4 or 5 hours just on social daily!

Socials CAN and WILL become a blackhole of your time if you let it. If you aren’t purposefully monitoring your usage, you’ve been watching Reels or TikToks for 2 hours before you know it. However, sometimes scrolling the gram and being sucked into the vortex or Youtube or TikTok is necessary to find new trends, ideas and stay in the know. The key is finding the right balance of social media time management tips and work! Firstly, you have to keep an eye on how you spend your time and then also make the most of it. I use these 6 strategies to keep myself on track and productive most of the time when I’m using social. What can I say, I’m only human!

Social Media Time Saving Tips

1. SET A DAILY ENGAGEMENT TIMEâ €

It only needs to be 5-10 minutes that you set aside to engage with others’ content. This can be done over your morning coffee while listening to a podcast or while watching the news. Scheuling it into your daily routine will pay dividends in the long run. Don’t try and blend it in with other tasks, this will lead to less efficiency and less productiveity.

Pro Tip: Try and schedule it around your regular posting schedule to increase your reach and engagement!

2. BLOCK YOUR CONTENT TIMEâ €

Set aside a few hours to sit down and focus on planning your content, Sunday is my day for this. This creates a weekly schedule and streamlines the process. You can plan a week out, 1 week, 2 weeks, or a month, whatever you’re comfortable with. I really like using Later to schedule my content, they offer a completely FREE version, and an affordable upgraded version with great features like; suggested hashtags, analytics, media library, preview, full month calendar and auto-publishing. You will be amazed at how quickly you can get this down and how much time in your week it saves!â €

3. TEMPLATES ARE YOUR FRIEND

Using templates in Photoshop or Canva (whatever graphic design tool you use) will save you so much time. It’s worth taking a few hours and figuring out your recurring post themes and creating sets of templates for each social platform you use. This tie into your social media strategy, you should have defined “content pillars” which then each have their own template(s).

4. SAVE HASHTAG SETSâ €

Researching hashtags can be so annoying and time-consuming! However, it needs to be done and done correctly for results. Once you’ve found your perfect set of hashtags make sure you save them someone that makes sense. If you are using a scheduling software that allows you to save captoins this is perfect for hashtag sets, or like lots of people saving them in the notes apps works great! No more wasting time re-typing hashtags… ever again.

5. BE ON THE RIGHT PLATFORMâ €

There are two camps on this issue, be everywhere or be where makes sense. Personally, I believe in investing time into the platform that will pay off now. To save time and energy focus your efforts on the platform that your target audience is already active on. There is little point to post the exact same post on all 5 social media channels… this is a waste of time! Pick 2-3 platforms that make sense after doing a deep dive into your target audience and make tailored content for each platform

6. RECYCLE AND REPURPOSE YOUR CONTENT â €

You’ve put so much time and work into your content already, so make it work for you! Take a blog post for example, and make it into 5-10 smaller pieces of content by breaking it down into more consumable parts. Maybe an IG post, IG carousel, Facebook post and stories. VIOLA! That’s 5+ pieces of content out of your one blog post. We call this splintering. You need to be doing this if you’re not already.

Did I miss any of your social media time management strategies you use?

These are the 6 things that I focus on to try an keep my time on social media under control, there’s nothing worse than that “You’re 25% higher this week on average”… that’s not a good feeling, we don’t love that. If you use at least one of these strategies it should help reduce your wasted time on social and help your output!

  1. Repurposing your content is such a great tip! I used to be so scared to do that, but now I realize that not everyone sees your content the first time around.
